Dark brown with a very dark head and light buff back. Length: 81 - 89 cm (32 - 35 inches) . Wingspan 213 cm (84 inches).         

Circumpolar in the southern ocean, mostly around the Antarctic Convergence. Breeds on South Georgia and most other cold Sub- Antarctic islands. Ranges on migration as far as 30°S.
